Famundo, LLC, a technology start-up located in Pacific Palisades, has launched Famundo for Organizations, a free new Web-based tool that streamlines the calendar scheduling and communications process between organizations and their members.

“Famundo is a new concept in family and organizational calendar management,” said CEO Richard Kuhlenschmidt, a Palisades resident since 1994.

His company’s Famundo for Organizations is an event calendar-planning system designed specifically to enable community groups – such as schools, churches, scouts, and sports teams – to “spend less time on administration and more time focusing on their role within the community,” Kuhlenschmidt said. “We provide a central calendar hub with an easy-to-read, holistic view of everything going on in an organization in a user-friendly format, so that members and staff can benefit from closer, easier integration with the rest of the community.”

Famundo for Organizations is available now for all organizations to use for free. “The more organizations that use Famundo in the Palisades, the more valuable it will be for the community members,” Kuhlenschmidt noted.

By late August, Famundo for Families will be available, allowing families to update their personal calendars automatically from the calendars of organizations using Famundo for Organizations. The Families program will have subscription rates ($9.95 a month, $99 a year), and will include an Address Book, a List Manager, a Family Library, and a Message Center. A member of an organization will not have to be a subscriber to the family version in order to take advantage of the organization’s free Famundo.

“The advantage for a family to subscribe is that, say for example my kids go to two different schools, belong to scout troops, sports teams, and churches that all use our free product,” Kuhlenschmidt explained. “I can subscribe to these calendars and have my family’s personal Famundo automatically updated. If an event changes on the school calendar, it will be automatically changed on my personal calendar.

“Imagine the time saving and paperwork this will save.”

He said that St. Matthew’s Parish School is currently evaluating Famundo as well as the Parish itself.

“Families are not isolated units, but rather are part of a much larger community,” Kuhlenschmidt said. “Our company’s name itself, Famundo, reflects that very idea by joining the word ‘family’ with the Spanish word for world, ‘mundo.’ In fact, our founders were software professionals whose own families were overwhelmed by the difficulties of managing schedules of multiple children, working parents and community service.”
